The Alembic is mostly known for being used in a variety of cliche B-movies as a staple alchemy item for the evil, hellbent mad scientist. The most noted theatrical use of the alembic was in the film Monstrosity, in which the Mad scientist had up to 100 alembics visible on the screen at one time, during the scene in which he feasts upon the empty containers. Frank Gerstle, who played the doctor, actually ate glass during the scene and claimed he "saw a window every time I visited the lavatory."
